Empowering Children of Incarcerated Parents.
Hope Calvary works to better the lives of children whose parents are in correctional facilities in Zimbabwe by providing need-based support programs that focus on education, livelihood, psychosocial help, and Social re-integration.
overview
When a parent or guardian is arrested, many children suffer. Our primary objective as Hope Calvary is to support these children and help them find hope again by providing need-based support programs that focus on education, livelihood, psychosocial help, and social re-integration.
Support programs
Research strongly expose the negative impact of incarcerating a child’s parent or guardian and how it affects their overall education.
The child’s life must continue, but most importantly the quality of that life matters more now that the mother or father are incarcerated.
Apart from the child’s guardian being incarcerated, behavior problems are further escalated by the child’s emotional state and thought processes.
The programs wouldn’t be complete without finally integrating the child
socially into the community through positive daily activities.
Parental incarceration
How we are playing our part?
Mass incarceration has devastated communities and ripped families apart, and that parental incarceration is a traumatic experience for both children and adults in Zimbabwe.
Hope Calvary’s main goal is to be an oasis of hope for children whose lives and futures are put in danger when their parents or primary guardians are incarcerated.
